This often leads to crankiness, which can lead to some less than gracious behavior.

I've definitely learned this the hard way on several. One moment I was excited about tasting a local delicacy, and the next I was snapping at my travel companions because I hadn't eaten in hours. It's not exactly a behavior I'm proud of, but it just goes to show that even the most social traveler can become a ravenous monster when they're hungry.

So, if you ever find yourself abroad and starting to feel grumpy, my advice is to find some food immediately. It might be the difference between having a memorable trip and one that ends with some embarrassing moments.
